Is the RTLE supported or do i need to compile the drivers beforehand? Performance seems good regardless. I cant speak for other boards but judging from other users I’ve heard on this forum, the NC9C’s E works just fine with pfSense. And If I look at ready-made appliances with aprox. Now it worked just fine without any problem.

I checked the HWdoc for 8. If my motherboard would support it, it would have been interesting to see how much of an improvement I would have gotten if I put in 8GB of RAM.
Getting help with your problem is a lot easier when everyone uses the correct terminology.
What errors are you getting? If you do a ifconfig re0, what is the output? Has anyone dealt with this before, or is anybody a guru who can suggest some other things to try? Performance seems good regardless. You need an updated driver.
You should really be trying to compile the driver on FreeBSD 8. I also faced with problem of onboard nic. I can now confirm that the chipset in the Shuttle XG41 board reports as HWRev “0x2c” instead of the not working “0x2c”.
I tried pinging my router which it is connected to via ethernet. The SMP with 4 cores is also working. After you’ve uploaded it you’ll have to kldload it from the command line to test it.
